Planning Board

The responsibilities of the Planning Board are to propose, review and make recommendations on Town plans; to review and make recommendations on Planning policies, CAMA Land Use Plan amendments, Zoning Map changes and proposed changes to development ordinances. The Board is comprised of seven (7) members and two (2) alternates appointed by the Board of Aldermen. The Planning Board meets the second Thursday of each month at 5 pm Sneads Ferry Branch of the Onslow County Library, 1330 NC HWY 210, Sneads Ferry NC. Proper face coverings are required and please adhere to social distancing restrictions.

At this time, Planning Board meetings are not livestreamed. This presents a particular challenge in the Planning Board’s review of Special Use Permits and Subdivision applications. However, the required public hearing is held during the Board of Aldermen’s review.

To participate in the open forum, please email the clerk to the Planning Board your written comment by noon the day of the meetings. Staff will continue to work to comply with statutory requirements during this challenge of balancing serving the public and taking reasonable precautions.

If you have any questions, concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the clerk to the Planning Board or call Town Hall.
