The Board of Aldermen held a Regular Meeting on June 4th at 6:30 p.m. Here are the items to note:
Annual Retreat: The Board of Aldermen Annual Retreat will reconvene on Tuesday, June 9th, at 9 a.m. after recessing on June 2nd. The meeting will continue to be conducted virtually. Register to attend here. You can also live stream the meeting from the town's YouTube channel.
Board Vacancy: At Thursday’s Regular Meeting, the Board discussed filling its vacancy and have added it as an item of business on the agenda for the Annual Retreat, which reconvenes on Tuesday.
Town Park: Repairs to the park are on schedule. The park is expected to reopen before July 4th.
Public Hearings: The hearing for CASE SUP-19-01; SUP-19-02; SUP-19-03; SUP-19-04 was continued to the end of the month.
Unified Development Ordinance: The proposed amendments to the UDO were approved.
COVID-19 State of Emergency: In accordance with the governor’s office, Mayor McDermon decided to leave the state of emergency declaration in effect.
Public Communications Report: Mayor Pro Tem Benson requested a report on town communication efforts since August 2019 be published for the public’s inspection. Read the report here.
CBRA: Alderman Leonard reported that the NC Realtors Legislative Committee has formally given its support to the CBRA legislation in Congress and has forwarded its support to the national association.
Budget Hearing: As a reminder, the public hearing for FY 2020-2021 proposed budget will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, at 2 p.m. More details here.
