Press Release: COVID-19 State of Emergency Update
Date: 04/15/2020
Mayor Pro Tem Joann McDermon has extended the suspension of short-term rentals to April 30, 2020 under the Town of North Topsail Beach’s State of Emergency declaration. The initial declaration issued on March 23rd suspended short-term rentals until April 25th.
This extension is made in conjunction with the other municipalities on Topsail Island to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the health of our community. Other aspects of the State of Emergency declaration, such as closed public beach parking, will remain in effect until modified or rescinded.
While there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in North Topsail Beach, the Board of Aldermen considers proactive measures such as this declaration essential to address this public health emergency. For the duration of this emergency, the Board encourages and supports guidance issued by the State Government through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
The Board will continue monitoring the governor’s mandates and local circumstances and will promptly inform citizens of any further action.
