Boat Lift Application

Requirements

To apply for a boat lift permit you will need the following:

  1. CAMA Determination: Cole Barrow is the CAMA Field Representative with the NC Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management, covering North Topsail Beach and is available at colton.barrow@deq.nc.gov 252-515-5436 (office) 252-725-3908 (work cell). 400 Commerce Ave, Morehead City, NC 28557

    Please inquire about the need for a CAMA determination.

  2. Completed Zoning & Floodplain Devo Permit Application (online)
  3. Completed Boat Lift Application (online)
  4. Completed Electrical Permit (online)
  5. Sketch of:
    1. Location on property
    2. Lift dimensions
    3. Building plans
  6. If the estimated project cost is $30,000+, a Lien Agent Entry Number
  7. Workers’ Compensation Affidavit

Application Process

Please follow these steps to make a boat lift application:

  1. Log into: https://www.citizenserve.com/northtopsailbeach
  2. Complete a Zoning & Floodplain Development Application:
    1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
    2. Click on "Planning and Zoning"
    3. In the left-hand column, click on "Apply online"
    4. Select "Zoning and Floodplain Permit" in the drop-down menu
    5. Complete the application and click "submit"
      1. Once submitted, please note this permit number (ex. ZFP21-000xxx)
  3. Complete an Electrical Application:
    1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
    2. Click on "Permits"
    3. Click on "Apply online" in the left-hand column
    4. Select "Electrical Permit" in the drop-down menu
    5. Complete the application
      1.  Select “An Existing Project” and enter the ZFP permit number noted above
    6. When complete, click "submit"
      1. Once submitted, please note this permit number (ex. E21-000xxx)
  4. Complete a Boat Lift Application:
    1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
    2. Click on "Permits"
    3. Click on "Apply online" in the left-hand column
    4. Select "Boat Lift Permit" in the drop-down menu
    5. Complete the application
      1. Select “An Existing Project” and enter the ZFP permit number noted above
      2. Enter the electrical permit number noted above
    6. When complete, click "submit"

Once the application package is submitted and complete, it will be processed and sent to the Planning Department and Building Inspections Departments for review.
