Lift Application

Requirements

To make a lift application, you will need the following documents:

  1. Simple Building Permit Application (online) – include the installer’s SP-EL electrical license in the description of work.
    1. Per the NC State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors, as contained in the NC State electrical code: .0806. SCOPE OF SP-EL LICENSE
      1. A special restricted elevator electrical contracting license (SP-EL) authorizes the licensee to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring only as an incident to the licensee’s elevator, dumbwaiter, escalator, moving walk, or personnel hoist business. Furthermore, the license authorizes the licensee to install, maintain, or repair only electric wiring that:
        1. (1) is an integral part of an elevator, dumbwaiter, escalator, moving walk, or personnel hoist;
        2. (2) is electrically isolated from the building wiring such as a safety switch or circuit breaker, that has been installed, complete with line-side connections, by others; and
        3. originates at the load-side terminals of the protective isolating device, referred to as “beyond the disconnection means.”

Application Process

Please follow these steps to make this application:

  1. Complete a Zoning & Floodplain Application:
    1. Log into: https://www.citizenserve.com/northtopsailbeach
    2. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
    3. Click on "Planning and Zoning"
    4. In the left-hand column, click on "Apply online"
    5. Select "Zoning and Floodplain Permit" in the drop-down menu
    6. Complete the application and click "submit"
      1. Once submitted, make a note of this permit number (ex. ZFP21-000xxx)
  2. Complete a Simple Build Application:
    1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
    2. Click on "Permits"
    3. In the left-hand column, click on "Apply online"
    4. Select "Simple Build Permit" in the drop-down menu
    5. Complete the application
      1. Indicate “Existing Project” and enter the ZFP permit number noted above
    6. Once complete click "Submit"
      1. Once submitted, make a note of this permit number (ex. SB22-000xxx)
  3. Complete an Electrical Application:
    1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
    2. Click on "Permits"
    3. Click on "Apply online" in the left-hand column
    4. Select "Electrical Permit" in the drop-down menu
    5. Complete the application and click "submit"
      1. Indicate “Existing Project” and enter the SB permit number noted above
    6. Once complete click "Submit"

The application process will request the upload of the application documents. Once the application package is submitted and complete, it will be processed and sent to the Planning Department and Building Inspections Departments for review.
