Pre-season Hurricane Preparedness

The Town of North Topsail Beach encourages residents to begin preparing for the upcoming hurricane season that begins on June 1, 2026, and ends on November 30, 2026. The Town recommends residents become familiar with their evacuation zone, route, and shelter locations. They should install a generator for emergencies. Homeowners should install and maintain storm shutters OR board up windows with cut-to-fit and ready to install 5/8” exterior grade or marine plywood. It is recommended to review your insurance policy to ensure coverage for hurricane damage and flooding, and inventory/photograph your home’s contents.

Residents are encouraged to prepare a Disaster Supply Kit. This is a collection of essential items designed to sustain your household during and following an emergency.
Disaster Supply Kits should be tailored to your family's needs. Basic Items such as drinking water (one gallon per person per a day), non-perishable food, batter-powered or hand crank radio, flashlight, first aid kit, whistle, dust mask, can opener, maps, and a cell phone with charger. Additional items to consider when packing a kit include prescription medication and glasses, infant formula and diapers, cash, pet food and water, additional clothes. sleeping bag, and blankets. The Town recommends residents maintain their Disaster Supply Kit by storing it in a cool, dry space in a tightly closed plastic or metal container. Be sure to check your kit every six months and replace any expired items.
