Missing Swimmer 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

At approximately 2:30pm on Monday June 1, 2026, North Topsail Beach Fire and Police Personnel were dispatched to 4000 River Road Extension (Beach Access #3) in reference to a water rescue. Personnel arrived on scene at approximately 2:36pm and were directed by bystanders to an area North of the access. Witnesses reported that the victim, Marquest Andre Page Jr., 24 of Laurinburg, was attempting to retrieve a child who had floated out too far and became overcome by the current himself. The child was recovered and transported, along with another family member, to the hospital for treatment. Personnel from North Topsail Beach Fire Department, North Topsail Beach Police Department, Turkey Creek Fire Department, Camp Lejeune Fire Department and Onslow County Emergency Services searched for Page until approximately 7:00pm. The search yielded no results and was paused due to weather concerns. Assets deployed included jet skis, boats, sonar, swimmers and drones. Efforts will resume at daybreak on Tuesday June 2nd 2026.
